Vortex provides the missing piece in Domino Enterprise Server clustering technology. Vortex is a Domino server task that is essential for companies using Domino clusters for mail, application or web servers.

Domino clusters are kept synchronised by the cluster manager and cluster replicator tasks but ONLY for databases that have been propagated to all the servers in the cluster by the administrator. If a new database is created on one of the servers for a new mail account or web site, fail-over and load balancing will not occur as the replica database does not exist in the rest of the cluster.

Vortex monitors the Cluster Directory checks for databases in the directory that do not have a replica on the local server. When it finds missing replicas Vortex creates them automatically. Vortex also logs any problems it finds in the normal server log file for the administrator to resolve.

Vortex features include:

Automatic creation of missing replica databases in a cluster
Logging of ACL and other cluster database problems found
Configurable database creation mode (full or partial)
Limit scope to an individual directory if required

Vortex is available now for Domino servers running on Windows, Linux, AIX and Sun Solaris.
